Born August 11, 1920 in Salento, Italy, peacefully slept away early January 28, 2013, at North York General Hospital. Barbara a long time resident of the North York area, arrived in Canada, November 9, 1953, with son Luigi and daughter Lucianna with her son Tony, to be born a year later. Barbara was re-united with her husband Mario, who had preceeded the family to find lodging and employment. Barbara will be missed by not only friends and neighbours, but by her 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Barbara will be remembered and can be visited on Tuesday, January 29th from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday January 30th from 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 31st at 12 noon at Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic Church (3220 Bayview Avenue, north of Finch, west side). Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North York General Hospital Foundation.
