Suddenly on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Carefree Lodge, Toronto at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Kate (Catherine Dorey). Dear father of Tom and David. Predeceased by parents Ken and Marjorie (nee Reid), brother Ron and sisters Mary and Maggie. Survived by brother Peter and his wife Sue, sister-in-law Betty Jackson and brother-in-law Doug McClure, as well as many family members in Canada and in the U.K. Basil was a longtime aeronautical engineer at De Havilland Canada. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles) with a Memorial Service to follow at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mood Disorders Association of Ontario.
