Of Thornhill, Ontario, age 84, passed away peacefully at Bridgepoint Healthcare in Toronto on May 31, 2017. Predeceased by husband O. Robert “Bob” Lundell after 42 years of marriage. Mother of Liz (Guy Burry), Jen, and David (Katty) and “Grandma” to Kate and Owen Burry, and Nicholas, Matthew and Erik Lundell. Predeceased by much-loved siblings Robert and Katharine. She will be missed by extended family -- including sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins -- as well as many friends.
Carolyn was born in Kingston, Ontario, daughter of M. Elsie and Clifford A. Curtis. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University, one of only four women in the class of 1954. Carolyn and Bob met at Queen’s and married in 1956. They spent time in Boston MA, and Kingston, then relocated to Toronto in 1961 with Bob’s appointment at York University. In 1970, the family moved to Thornhill.
Many happy times were spent at the cottage that Carolyn and Bob built. A keen bridge player, reader, shopper, traveller, and accomplished cook, Carolyn loved entertaining family and friends.
The family is grateful to the palliative care teams at North York General Hospital and Bridgepoint Healthcare and to Emily Mendez-Callam for her attentive caregiving. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Commerce 1954 Entrance Scholarship at Queen’s University or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. A celebration of life will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7th at R. S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario. Condolences may be left at rskane.ca
