It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Ann Havery, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by her loving family after bravely fighting a long illness.
Born on February 7, 1943, in Dublin, Ireland, Cathy made her home in Thornhill, Ontario, where she built a beautiful life filled with family, friendship, laughter, and love.
Cathy was the devoted wife of Marvin, the love of her life, with whom she shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Michael Havery (Beverley Havery), Ann Marie Havery, Tracey Nord (Peter Nord), and Gregory Havery (Yvonne Havery). She was the cherished Grandma of Elizabeth (Giovanni), Ryan, Dillon (Samantha), James, Carter (Rhea), Hunter, Matthew, and Vanessa, and the adored Great-Grandma of Emily, Bruno, Jacob, Luca, and Ethan.
Cathy was a beloved sister to Kilian (Loretta), Diarmuid (Kathy), Con (Sue), Neave (Ted), Emir (Jim), Mora (Marc), Gronya (Jim), and Pauline, whom she loved like a sister. She was also a cherished sister-in-law, mother-in-law, cousin, aunt, and great friend to many, leaving behind a large and loving extended family.
Family was the heart of Cathy’s life. She took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and had a special gift for bringing people together. Her home was always welcoming, filled with music, laughter, delicious food, and wonderful company. Whether tending to her beautiful garden, baking her famous apple pies, or creating exquisite table decorations, Cathy put love and care into everything she did.
Cathy lived a full and vibrant life, embracing travel, friendships, and opportunities to make a difference. She volunteered in political election campaigns, supported patients and visitors at York Central Hospital, organized events for the Canadian Cancer Society, and helped lead a successful community protest.
Cathy also enjoyed a rewarding 31-year career with GSC Services, working as an event planner at trade shows and conventions, where her organizational skills and love of bringing people together shone through.
Above all, Cathy will be remembered for her extraordinary kindness and the way she made everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved. She had a generous spirit, an open heart, and an infectious enthusiasm for life. Her influence will live on through the family she adored, the traditions she created, and the countless memories shared by those fortunate enough to have known her.
Cathy was deeply loved, she will be profoundly missed, and she will never be forgotten.
