Passed away on Friday, April 2, 2004, at North York General Hospital after a series of strokes. His two daughters, Ann and Jane, were at his side when he died. Just twenty days shy of his 80th birthday, Tabe was predeceased by his wife Kay, they were happily married for 46 years. He is survived by his long-time friend and loving companion, Frances Schurman. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Muir, for whom he had a special place in his heart. He will be so sadly missed by Ann and her husband Thom Budd, and Jane and her husband David Guy. His five grandchildren: James, Patricia, David, Sarah and Alexander will always remember him with great fondness and love. Tabe was a proud Canadian, a veteran of World War II, serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force. At the conclusion of the war he attended Queens University in Kingston and pursued a successful career in the insurance business. A world traveler, a news junkie and a lover of politics, Tabe was a charming, interesting, humourous and michievous man, with a ton of enthusiasm and optimism. He had a happy life; he was well-liked and well-loved and will always be in our hearts. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 9 pm at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario). A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday April 8, 2004 at 3 pm. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
