In 1970 he met my mom, Judi Green, at Frank's Place in Newmarket where he was managing and she was helping out. There began a love that's lasted 50 years and saw brought into this world myself, Tamara, my brother, Michael, Granddaughter, Paige, and Grandsons Ethan and Lincoln.
My father worked in printing his whole life, first as a printer and later as a designer and manager of a copy house. Dad loved his work and how it allowed him to be creative, work with people, and keep up with the latest computer technology.
My dad was always the guy that took in people in need and treated them as family. Shannon Read Tucker, Cheryl Brady and so many theatre people became as loved and important to him as his own kids.
In his off-work hour's dad was passionate about theatre. He acted, directed, produced an served as President of South Shore Theatre. One of the things he loved best about community theatre was watching the young people learn and grow, onstage and off. So many of the relationships he formed in theatre became life long friends. I hope you all know how much he loved you.
My father was often a man of contradictions. He loved tech but hated smartphones. (He still had a Nokia flip phone). He loved theatre, but was an introvert.
He was also a man of many passions; learning, human rights, reading, animals, candy, people, Froot Loops, keeping up with current news, the list goes on.
He disliked very little, though what he did, he was also passionate about. On yogurt: “I'm not eating something that can eat me back.” On broccoli: “If George Bush doesn't have to eat broccoli, neither do I.”
I have so many favorite memories of my dad, including spending hours watching figure skating and musicals together and directing him in plays.
What everyone should know about my dad was how much he loved those in his life. When I went through his computer I found a fastidiously organized hard drive with folders full of everything and everyone that he loved.
My family feels so blessed to everyone who was a part of his life. While is seems far too soon to say goodbye to him, he loved and was loved 10 lifetimes worth.
Thank you dad for being so much to so many. We all love you and will miss you beyond words.
