Douglas Russell

Peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 71, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dearly beloved husband and best friend for 48 years to Carole (Brunet). Wonderful Dad to Linda (Ross Price) of Raleigh, N.C., and their children Steven, Lindsay, Hayley and Brittany; Donna (Craig Defries) of Ottawa, and their children Alex, Charlotte and Aislinn; Glenn (Linda Smole) of Richmond Hill. Beloved brother of the late Robert (Marian) of Oakville and Eleanor (Grant Peterson) of Montreal. Doug graduated from McGill University in 1955 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Married the year later, he and Carole raised their family on the West Island of Montreal. Doug enjoyed a life filled with summer weekends in Vermont and winter family vacations in Florida. After relocating the family to Ontario in 1980, Doug continued his rewarding career until his retirement in 1997. Doug was happiest when doing projects with his grandchildren, travelling with Carole, and sharing fun times with his family and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). Service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at 1 pm. Cremation. If desired, donations in Doug's memory could be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
