Passed away peacefully at Mariann Home on Monday, September 1, 2025. Eleanor was born on September 4, 1930, the only daughter of William and Mae Redmond. She grew up with her brothers, William (Bill), Dalton and Carman, on the family farm outside of Dundalk. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a devoted Roman Catholic, who strove to follow Jesus by following the example of his mother, Mary. Eleanor was a dedicated teacher for many years in what became the Toronto Catholic District School Board. She treasured memories of her pilgrimages to Marian shrines in Europe and worked many summers at the gift shop at Martyrs’ Shrine, Midland. Eleanor was a lively conversationalist, who had many stories and decided convictions, and she cared about others' spiritual well-being. She is remembered with affection by her sister-in-law, Helen (Carman), her nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, September 5 at 11:00 am at Blessed Trinity Parish Church: 3220 Bayview Avenue, North York. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery: 8361 Yonge St, Thornhill.
The family would like to thank Dr Ashley & the staff at Mariann Home for the compassionate care provide to Eleanor.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to a Mental Health Charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
