Elmar Josef Moser, aged 79, passed away on July 7, 2026. Born on August 5, 1946, in Freising, Germany, he came to Canada at the age of 19, bringing with him a steady determination and a strong sense of purpose that would shape the life he built and the legacy he leaves behind. Elmar will be remembered with deep respect for the devotion and work ethic that guided him in all he undertook.
Elmar is deeply missed by his loving wife of 57 years Jane, his son Michael, and his grandchildren Lucas and Georgia. He will also be remembered by his sister Ursula and a large extended family in Canada and Germany. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Maria, his siblings Reinhard (aka Frank), Werner (aka Vern), Sieglinde (aka Linde) and Helmut.
Elmar’s remarkable trajectory in the real estate industry formed the foundation of a long and distinguished career, beginning with rapid advancement at A. E. LePage. His leadership quickly propelled him from Branch Manager to Regional Manager, and ultimately to head of the Residential Division for A. E. LePage (Quebec) in Montreal. While there, Elmar fully immersed himself in the culture, mastering the language through daily private lessons to effectively lead French-only meetings and chair corporate functions. What was intended as a temporary two-year assignment turned into five highly successful, memorable years of growth and leadership.
Following the historic merger of LePage and Royal Trust, Elmar returned to Ontario to serve as Senior Vice President & General Manager of the Greater Ontario Division. Later, amidst a major industry reorganization in 1990, he accepted the role of Area Manager for the flagship branches in Central Toronto. Operating out of the 2781 Yonge Street office, this pivotal appointment brought his distinguished corporate career beautifully full circle.
Driven by a lifelong entrepreneurial spirit, Elmar eventually took the leap to establish his own brokerage, Sutton Granite Hill Realty. Under his dedicated guidance, the company grew to include approximately 50 salespeople and ranked in the top 12% of all Toronto brokerages. After a decade of independent success, Elmar sold the company back to Royal LePage, bringing a legendary career in real estate to a fitting and accomplished close.
Beyond his professional life, Elmar found great enjoyment on the golf course. A passionate golfer, he played countless rounds at both Whitevale and Cedarhurst Courses as a member, bringing the same dedication and perseverance to the game that he brought to every part of his life.
Elmar was also known for his volunteerism with the Toronto East Rotary Club, where he made many lasting friendships and offered his time with consistent generosity and reliability.
Jane and Elmar enjoyed extensive travel while also being snowbirds in Florida during the winter. They made many friends on these wonderful journeys.
Memorial Visitation will be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 8088 Yonge Street in Thornhill on Saturday July 25, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm.
