Frances Stevens

Passed away on Wednesday October 29, 2025 after a brief illness, at the age of 99. Beloved wife of the late James Stevens, married for 63 years. Loving Mother to Louise and her husband Ron, Jim and his wife Donna and the late Patricia. Cherished Grandma to Kristen, Nicole and Jaimie Stevens. Mom lived a long and happy life. Born in Montreal in 1926, she moved to New Brunswick and then back to Montreal. Mom and Dad raised their family in Montreal before moving to Thornhill in 1979. As a young adult, mom loved skiing, taking the ski train to St. Sauveur with her friends. She also enjoyed socializing with her friends with their monthly sewing/knitting get togethers in Montreal. Mom was a great cook, her New England clam chowder lives on today at our Christmas celebration. Summer family vacations usually meant a road trip to Kennebunkport Maine for a week or two at a cottage rental. Mom loved to travel and she and Dad both had the chance to travel to the USA, Europe and the UK. Later in life Mom & Dad enjoyed their yearly winter vacations on Anna Maria Island in Florida where they hosted Louise & Ron and Jim & Donna and the grand kids. Great memories of beach days, late afternoon pool swims and amazing seafood dinners were cherished by all. Mom was a long time member of St. Luke's Parish in Thornhill and volunteered along with Dad with the St Vincent de Paul Society. Despite some health challenges in recent years, Mom's kind, gentle demeanor remained. Thanks to the staff at Brookside, Newmarket Health Center and South Lake Hospital for their care. Frances will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 pm at St. Luke's Parish (39 Green Ln, Thornhill, ON, L3T 7M9) on Saturday November 22, 2025.
