Born in Seewen, Switzerland, Franz was the cherished son of the late Anna and Xaver Scherrer. He was a devoted husband, beloved family member, and loyal friend whose kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit touched all who knew him.
He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Joan (née Kerr), with whom he shared 49 blessed years of marriage; his sister, Cornelia Gisiger; his brother-in-law, Dr. John Davison Shillingford; his sisters-in-law, Elaine Lewis and Margaret Shillingford; his godson, Kevin Comrie; his cousins Marilyn and Leroy and many others. Also, many other family members and dear friends. Franz was also blessed with many cherished nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, 8088 Yonge St. Thornhill.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, 8088 Yonge St. Thornhill.
Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 8361 Yonge Street, Thornhill.
Following the Interment a reception will be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, 8088 Yonge St. Thornhill.
Frank will be remembered for his quiet strength, warm heart, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He touched the lives of many through his kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in peace, reunited with those who have gone before him, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
