Condolences from the Wheler Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Siberry Family at this time. The U of T Fraternity Brothers, including Fred, were a very important presence in my late parent's (Bill and Eleanor Wheler) lives and as such, seemed like an extension of our own family when I was growing up (Grey Cup parties, cottage visits, family events). My parents spoke often and lovingly of Fred. My wife will also remember "Mr. Siberry" as her Vice-Principal during her school days in Don Mills. He touched many lives and will be fondly remembered.

Sib went gentle into that good night, as he should. He was an Irish gentleman in the very best sense of the phrase. We shared the camaraderie of the navy and to us “up spirits” was a nod to the custom of drinking rum aboard Her Majesty’s ships but it also meant “cheer up” when the vicissitudes of running a Junior High school got to us. When we celebrate 100 years of the Royal Canadian Navy, we should remember it was men like Lt.Fred who braved the Atlantic in cockleshell frigates to protect our convoys in World War II. He will not be forgotten by his peers and his thousands of students. Cheers Fred. Love Molly and Charlie
