(nee Helen Sowden) Peacefully at home on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the age of 98. Beloved wife of the late Harold. Our mother and Nan is celebrated and remembered by sons Jim, John (Beth), grandchildren Josh (Pam), Molly (Jason), Melissa (Jason), Jessica (David) and great-grandchildren Amie, Ashley, Simon, Max, Noah and Lily. Sister of the late Mabel, Olive, Ethel, Bea and Dorothy. Helen will also be dearly missed by her special friends at the Willowdale United Church and the North York community. Helen was born in 1915 in England. After arriving in Canada as a Barnardo child, Helen always had a strong spirit to succeed. She was adopted by the Sharpe family of Uxbridge who she remembered fondly. Visitation will be held at R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. (at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Toronto Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
