

On Sunday, August 17th, Dr. Hugh Hedley Falconer passed away at the Maple Health Center in Vaughan, Ontario. He was 88 years old. Hugh grew up in Toronto and after attending Humberside Collegiate, went on to attend the universities of Guelph (BSc.) and Toronto (DDS). With his first wife, Jean (Baker), he moved to Kitchener and set up his dental practice of 33 years. After retiring in 1988, he and his second wife, Glenys (Richards), enjoyed splitting their time between their Lake Simcoe and Florida retirement properties. Suffering with Dementia, he was moved into the longterm care facility at Maple in 2003 where he resided until his passing.
Hugh is predeceased by his wife, Glenys Falconer (nee Richards), his brother, Fairburn Falconer(Joyce) , and his sister, Aureade Girard (Gabriel). He is survived by his children, Gregory Scott Falconer of Grafton, Catherine Falconer – Lichty of Vaughan, and step-daughter, Sue Elliott of Calgary, Alberta, (Bob). Hugh was the proud grandfather of Scott’s children, Adam, Renee, Peter, and Lauren, Catherine’s two boys, Jacob and David Lichty, and Sue and Bob’s children, Mark Elliott (Jennifer) and Jayme Legat (Korby). Great grandchildren are Holly, Lauren, Ashlyn and Sidney.
Visitation will be held at the Jerrett Funeral Home, (Vaughan Chapel at 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, Ontario, L4J 1W3) Thursday, August 21st from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, August 22nd from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The funeral will follow the visitation in the Vaughan Chapel at 2 p.m. Charitable donations in Hugh’s memory can be made to Alzheimer Society of Canada.
