1959 - 2016
Surrounded by his family, Jim died on July 17, 2016 in his 58th year, after a struggle with ALS. Beloved husband of Vicky (nee Michkowski) and devoted, wonderful father to Danielle, Nicholas and Stephen. Dear son of Ken and Thelma and brother to Steven (Arwen), Janet (Grant) and John (Kim). Much loved by aunts, uncles and cousins in Ontario, Nova Scotia and Alberta. Jim is sadly missed by his father-in-law Mike (the late Stella) Michkowski, sister-in-law Anne Marie (Mike) and brother-in-law Michael (Linda). Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and countless friends. Jim was genuine, honest, loved his family, enjoyed a good laugh and a cup of tea, music, fishing and golfing – he was the real deal! Jim retired from the TTC as a Subway Supervisor. The friendships he made while working there were endless as he truly enjoyed his work and colleagues. When he retired he left a big hole and big shoes to fill. Our family would like to thank Dr. Deb Harrold, Norma Connolly, the Hospice Huntsville Care Team for their outstanding care and support, the ALS Clinic Sunnybrook – Dr. Aaron Izenberg and team, Pam Millar, CCAC and all those healthcare professionals for their compassion and care for Jim – you are all the best! We would also like to thank all those who were pillars of great strength with prayer, support, cards/letters, love and generous acts of kindness. What a blessing you have been to our family. The family will receive visitors at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. (at Goulding, south of Steeles), Toronto, on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life will be at the Church of St. Luke Lutheran, 3200 Bayview Ave. (corner of Finch and Bayview), on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. Please no flowers. If desired, donations can be made to Hospice Huntsville, the ALS Society and the Magnetawan Lions Club. Condolences www.rskane.ca
