Joan Mary Kent-Young

Passed away peacefully on New Year's Day in her 90th year at Southlake Hospital. Predeceased in 2000 by her husband Robert Evans Young of 55 years. Loving mother to David (Lynn Eakin), Andrea (André Bernier), James and Michael (Vivien). Will be missed by her grandchildren Evan, Christie, Patrick, Stephen, Philip and Kenneth and by great grandchildren Foster, Reed and Alex. Predeceased by her sisters Margaret de Beaufort and Dorothy Bovey.

Joan was born in South Wales, daughter of Henry Williams and Edith Alice Kent-Fox and was educated in England and France and later at the Ontario College of Art. She worked briefly in theatre design in London and served in the war with the Canadian Red Cross. She was keenly interested in world affairs but always felt that King Township was her home. She loved sailing and was a keen member of RCYC. Throughout her life she was an artist and a longtime member of Kingcrafts Studio. She was active with the CFUW.

A visitation will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. on Friday at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday January 8th at Christ Church Kettleby. Memorial donations can be made to Between Friends or the Blind Sailing Association.
