John Best

Passed away peacefully on February 25, 2012 at North York General Hospital at the age of 89. Beloved husband of 64 years of the late Norma. He will be sadly missed by sons David and his wife Margaret, and Paul and his wife Jane, and his four grandchildren Conor, Jeffrey, Anna and Jonathan. John is survived by his sister Dorothy McAdam (Bob). John worked as a sales representative for Domtar for all of his adult years until he retired at age 65. He was a Lionel model train enthusiast and enjoyed his big band and swing music records. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at North York General Hospital (the best in the world!) and the great staff at Extendicare Bayview. The family would also like to thank Barrie and Azi, neighbours who faithfully supported our dad over the past two years. Friends may call on Thursday, March 8, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North York General Hospital Foundation.
