Our hearts are broken to announce the passing of the incomparable and irreplaceable June Patricia Drane of Thornhill, in her 90th year. Survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Bruce Lawrence Drane. Mother to Wesley Lawrence Drane, April Lorraine Drane, partner Daniel Dutka, predeceased by son, Larry Charles Drane.
June loved life and she was the heart and soul of our family. She was always present for the people she loved with her understanding and infinite wisdom hard won by the challenges she faced in her lifetime. She was optimistic yet pragmatic and her courage and determination to live her life as best as she could with some health challenges was so admired by her family.
June will fondly be remembered for her signature style, sense of humour and quick wit. When asked about her penchant for animal prints, June replied, “I never met a leopard print I didn’t like” She was an accomplished and celebrated decorative artist who during the 90’s into 2000’s revived the Victorian art of decoupage with her own particular JPD style.
June and her husband Bruce danced and sang their way through an extraordinary life that was well lived. They worked hard to provide a comfortable lifestyle for their 3 children in TMR, and North Toronto and cherished family memories include cottaging on Balsam lake, skiing in the Eastern Townships including family vacation “Griswolds” car trips which no doubt tried their patience yet they carried on with humour and love.
June was a generous hostess and she loved to entertain family and friends whom she cherished from her longtime memberships at the Toronto Lawn and Tennis Club, Thornhill Golf and Country Club and Cedar Highlands Ski Club. Occasionally, June was known to sing a song or two and she would make a captivating chanteuse in her next life.
A private celebration of June’s wonderful life will take place at Kane-Jerrett 8088 Yonge st. Thornhill. Condolences to the family may be directed to [email protected] or [email protected]
