
After a courageous battle with leukemia, Moon passed away in the arms of his loving wife and children, on Saturday May 1st, 2004 at Sunnybrook Hospital in his 71st year. Dearly loved husband and soul mate to Grace, his sister Lily (husband-David) and predeceased by his brother John (wife-Jenny). Caring father of Ingrid (husband-Ken), Gary (wife-Garfunn) and Keon (wife-Carmen). Known as ?Gung-gung? and ?Yeh-yeh? to all of his precious grandchildren, Ryan, Barry, Braden, Alexandra, Matthew, Bethany and Charis. Moon will never be forgotten by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. His countless contributions and leadership in the Chinese community are only exceeded by his ability to be a consummate provider to his family. Throughout his life since immigrating from China in 1950, Moon exemplified the true spirit of a new Canadian. His entrepreneurial instincts led him to successful endeavours in dry cleaning, restaurant, and import/export of food and dry goods. He then served as Legislator- Federal Legislative Assembly of Republic of China (Taiwan) representing Canada for several years. For the last 5 years, Moon enjoyed his retirement by spending the summer time fishing on his boat with Grace and his friends. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his dedicated service to his community leading to his receiving the Canada 125th Anniversary Outstanding Contribution Award 1992, the Order of Ontario 1997, the Queen?s Golden Jubilee Medal 2003 and Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Highest Medal of Honour for Overseas Chinese 2004. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kutas and his staff for their committed care, ENT Clinic, Transfusion Medicine Clinic and ER staff and doctors for their close attention and the team of dedicated doctors and nurses in C-Wing, Oncology especially Dr. Huynh for his deep compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Moon?s memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Cancer Research Society or Sunnybrook Hospital ? Oncology Department. Family and friends will be received at R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street) on Friday, May 7, 2004 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. There will be a one hour ?community memorial service? starting at 7:00 pm celebrating Moon?s life. The funeral service will be held at Toronto Chinese United Church (3300 Kennedy Road) on Saturday, May 8, 2004, 10:30 am followed by interment at York Cemetery.
