OBITUARY

Konstantinos "Gus" Tsihlias

16 September, 19299 May, 2021

Konstantinos passed away at the Hellenic Home of Scarborough on Sunday May 9, 2021, at the age of 91.

Beloved husband of Eleftheria (predeceased). Loving father of George (predeceased), Helen (Sam Lagis), John (Claudia) and Bessie/Elizabeth. Caring grandfather to Peter (Jennifer), Despina (Arthur), Dean, Nicholas, Stephanie and Olivia. Proud great grandfather of Sammy, Evelyn and Ella.

Beloved son of the late George and Eleni Tsihlias. Eldest brother of Giota, Peter, and Zoe, while predeceased by siblings Angelo and Irene.

Born in 1929 in the village of Divri in the Peloponnese, Greece, Konstantinos was a man of great passion and immense courage. He emigrated to Canada in 1956 with a plan to stay two years and return to Greece to start up a business. From the port of entry in Halifax, he first worked in Edmonton, and travelled the Canadian northwest as a chef on the rail lines. Pleased with the opportunity Canada afforded, plans changed and he settled in Toronto. He sponsored his entire immediate family to immigrate to Canada. This brave endeavor was the catalyst that would impact generations to come. In 1959, Eleftheria joined Konstantine in Canada and they began a family in Toronto, Ontario. Gus was known for his charity, sense of style, and his dedication to the Greek Orthodox faith and community. His legacy will be carried on in the hearts, stories, and memories of his family and friends.

The funeral is a private service, but you are invited to join us online Friday May 14th at 11 AM through the link provided. https://youtu.be/lzz6qmOfDI0

Dearest Bessie and the Entire Family,
My deepest condolences on the loss of your Dear Pa.
I will never forget the hug and kiss your Dad gave me as he was walking up the aisle at Despina and Arthur's wedding.
Whenever I visited the family home on Threadneedle Cres.
Mr. Tsihlias would have the Μεταξά ready in hand for me and I dare not leave without eating a delectable treat from Mrs. Tsihlias.
I will cherish all of the fond memories I have of both Mr. and Mrs. Tsihlias as they are now reunited again.
Love,
Michelle Giardino
