It is with tears in our eyes and a song in our hearts that we announce the passing of Lona Lorea Richardson (née Martin). Born June 23rd 1944 and, having lived a wonderful life, reached her destination September 8th, 2026. An amazing woman with extraordinary talents, Lona dedicated her everything to her husband of 62 years and constant companion Robert Richardson. A true love story! This dynamic duo were educators, performers, community supporters, caring neighbours, travellers, and, most importantly, the most amazing parents! Family was everything to Lona. As Bob will carry on as commander in chief, the love of Lona will always be remembered and cherished by their children Greg (Janet), Dave (Stephanie), John, and Aleta (Greg). As well as their grandchildren Emily, Ben, Jack, Katie (Connor), Mikenna, Griffin, Ivy, Jaxon, Thomas and great grandson Colton. Many thanks to Mackenzie Health Long Term Care for the compassionate care and respect Lona received. We will celebrate Lona on Saturday, October 3rd at Thornhill United Church 25 Elgin Street in Thornhill - visitation at 10am, service at 11:30am followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
