Obituary of Lucine Bablanian
Mrs. Lucine Bablanian 27 OCTOBER, 1940 – 24 MARCH, 2023 Lucine Bablanian (née Berberian) passed on March 24, 2023 at the age of 82. She is survived by her children Maral (Steve), Nora (Vahe) and her grandchildren, Chloe, Natalie, Lucine (Fr. Haroutiun) and Arpi. Lucine has gone to rest with her dear husband, Herant, and her beloved son, Ara. As a wife, mother, nene and tantig, Lucine was devoted to her family above all else and sharing her love was her sole ambition. This love was most often expressed through her incredible talents as a cook. She spoiled everyone with abundance - sitting at her table was always a feast. Lucine was born in Damascus, Syria and grew up in Beirut, Lebanon. Upon marrying Herant, they lived in Baghdad for a short time before immigrating to Canada in 1968. Together, they built a successful independent business, where Lucine worked as a seamstress, all while raising three children in a new country and going above and beyond to ensure their success. As the first of their families to settle in Toronto, Herant and Lucine also welcomed the many Armenian friends, neighbours and extended family who joined later, opening their home and helping to ease the transition and lead the way. Upon retirement, Lucine joined Herant to travel anywhere and everywhere he suggested - starting with winters in Florida, extended vacations in Portugal, visiting newfound family in Australia, as well as countless cruises and tours all over the world. They were such a joyful pair - all who met them loved them. The family wishes to thank the truly kind staff of Amica Unionville for their compassionate care of Lucine over the past two months before she succumbed to pancreatic cancer. May she rest in peace forevermore. Visitation will be held at St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church, 45 Hallcrown Place, North York, Ontario at 10:30 am on Wednesday March 29, 2023. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Interment at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Rd, North York. A reception (hokejash) will be held at St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church following the internment. Online condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.kanejerrett-thornhill.ca In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation in Lucine’s memory to St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
