Mercedes passed peacefully with family by her side on May 1, 2026 at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. She is survived by her spouse William of 45 years, her children Jacqueline (Richard), Christine, Brian (Lorraine), Richard, and David (Kimberly). She will be fondly remembered as a devoted and cherished Granny to her 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sibling’s Elizabeth and Michele.
Mercedes is pre-deceased by her parents Eugene and Elsa Sardinha, and her siblings Bernard and Gloria.
Mercedes will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, deeply devoted to her family and cherishing every moment spent with them. She found great joy in gardening, fishing, and camping at Algonquin Park, as well as spending time out on the boat. She will also be fondly remembered for her special gift of making every meal something to be savoured.

Visitation will be held for Mercedes at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes – Thornhill on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, with words being shared at 6:00pm. Flowers are welcomed.
