Michael Pliska

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing for Michael Pliska, known to many as Mikhail or Misha. God took him to be a guardian angel on Easter Sunday on April 20th 2025 at 01:35 AM. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his extended family, and his friends.

After spending an evening of love, joy and laughter with his beloved wife Natalie Victoria Pliska, Misha suddenly passed away in her arms. A devout man of faith, Misha lived a life of humility always putting others needs before his own and never expecting the same back. He was the kind of person who would go hungry so that someone else could eat, be cold to keep another warm, and even go broke to make sure someone else had means. That was just the kind of selfless soul that he was.

He was honest, kind, forgiving, compassionate, generous, he embodied all of the principles of Jesus. It is said in Russian Orthodoxy that those who pass on Easter Sunday are chosen by God himself to become guardian angels and get a pass straight to heaven. Anyone who knew him would have no doubt that he is indeed one of God’s chosen.

Misha was a man of many talents. From his famous circus acts that captivated audiences across the USSR and beyond, to his ability to bake a perfectly delicious cake without a recipe, he could sew clothing from scratch, play the piano and guitar, speak in 11 different languages and build a home with his bare hands. He even taught his wife Natalie how to do a handstand at 57 years old.

Misha is now reunited in heaven with his loving parents, Maria Vasiliyevna Pliska and Vasiliy Iosevovich Pliska. His spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Service will be held on Friday April 25th 2025 at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home at 8088 Yonge St, Thornhill, ON, L4J 1W3.

Open visitation hour is open from 09:30 until 10:30.

The service ceremony will begin at 10:30 and be completed by 11:30.
