Nancy Elizabeth Sommerville

On October 23, 2025, Nancy Sommerville passed peacefully after having spent her last day surrounded by her family, at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital. Nancy fought a long battle, after having suffered an aneurysm in 2004, she began to further suffer from dementia over the past 3 years.

She is survived by her spouse Gord of 46 years, her children Paige (Derek), Spencer (Jessica), her grandchildren Nora and Fern. She is also survived by her brother and sister, Ken Argyle (Dorothy), Cathy Hinton (nee Argyle), and best friends for life Diane Skinner (nee Davidson), and Patty Menard (nee Groom).

Nancy is pre-deceased by, and joins, her parents Charlie and Thelma Argyle and her canine companions, Ellie, Max, Sam, Grover, Leo, Charlie and Susan.

Nancy will be remembered as a loving mother who was devoted to family, friends and dogs and loved every moment she spent with all of them―she will also be remembered for her love of playing bridge every chance she got, and golfing with her good friends at their weekly game. She will be remembered for her time volunteering at Lansing Co-Op Nursery School, along with her talent for sewing, making the best Halloween costumes in the neighbourhood for Paige and Spencer.

The family would like to express their deep thanks to the staff at Cedarhurst Dementia Home, especially Rosanne, Camila, Stella and Ni who cared for her with love and compassion and friendship for the past 3 years.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday November 9, 2025 at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home at 8088 Yonge St, Thornhill, ON L4J 6W6.
