OBITUARY
Mrs. Olga Spanes
19 January, 1926 – 20 February, 2021
PASSED AWAY ON FEBRUARY 20, 2021
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Olga Spanes at the age of 95 on Saturday, February 20, 2021 quietly in the care of Houses of Providence surrounded by her children. Predeceased by her dear husband Lazaros (Lazo) Spanes. Parents Vasil and Velika, sister Magda, brother Nick and brother Kosta.
Loving mother of daughters Helen (late Angelo) and Kathy (Bill) and son Chris (Marie). Cherished grandmother of Susan (Gary), Michael (Teresa), Amanda and Amelia. Loving great grandmother of Angelina (Joseph) and Ellen (Robert). Loving great great grandmother of Anthony, Joseph and Daniel. Dearly missed by her twin brother John (Vangel) and her sister in-law Sophie.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes (8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill ON L4J 1W3).
Due to COVID19 restrictions and concerns, we are restricted to a minimal number of people for the service and burial. We take comfort in knowing how much she was loved by so many and our hearts ache that these difficult times prevent us from celebrating her with family in the traditional way in which she deserves. We plan to organize a memorial with the church to honour our Mother once the restrictions ease.
The family extends a warm thank you to the Doctors and staff who cared for Mom at the Houses of Providence.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed in support of Dementia & Alzheimer's through Alzheimer's Society Ontario.

Today we laid my sweet grandmother to rest. She was a sweet, soft spoken woman who was stronger than almost anyone I know. Together with my dear grandfather, she showed us unconditional love and support and I thank her for all of the wonderful memories and teachings.
Baba, you will be sorely missed and will forever live in our hearts. ❤️

Hi Baba,
It breaks my heart that I couldn’t sit with you during the last few days like you sat with me so many times when I needed you. We will miss you terribly but I know your dream was to see Dedo again. You always wondered where he was and now you are safe and sound with him again in heaven. Thank you for everything and I can’t wait to see you both again some day.
Love,
Amanda
