

Born in Baltimore to Dr. Charles Clifford Macklin and Dr. Madge Thurlow Macklin, Syb was the proud mother of Fraser (Judy), Jackie, and Graham (Vicky). Grandmother of Andrew, Victoria, Jamey, Michelle (Phil), Louie and great-grandmother of Alyssa and Cole. Predeceased by her sisters Carol (Harry Kimber) and Margaret "Pookie" (Bob Frewin). Syb will also be remembered by relations Jane Staub (nee Macklin), Hazel Garrow (nee Macklin), Peter Macklin (Margaret), Mike Kimber (Sue), Dan Kimber, Caroline "Missy" (Henry Primrose) and their families, and Andrew's mother Dori Gospodaric (Stan Gal). Syb from 15, volunteered teaching swimming and reading to children. She taught physical education at University of Western Ontario while taking her bachlor's degree. She later taught at Vaughan Road Collegiate and summer school at The Ontario College of Education. She also taught at the school for the mentally challenged. She spent her summers as a camp counsellor at Tanamakoon in Algonquin Park. She enjoyed arts and crafts, taking courses in woodworking, producing many beautiful bowls and furniture. She also participated for years in painting classes at Oriole-York Mills United Church with Les Tibbles. She loved nature and bird watching; she loved athleticism and sport and enjoyed tennis and skating. Friends may call on Monday, September 10th from 5-7 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Memorial Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Oriole-York Mills United Church, Friends of Canadian Broadcasting or the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
