Virginia Sicat

Virginia, fondly known as “Betty” passed peacefully with family by her side after two and a half years battle with lung cancer on May 16, 2026 at home. She is survived by her children, Arlene (Edelino), Glenda (Phillip) and Shervin (Jackie). She will be fondly remembered as a devoted and cherished Granny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Evangeline, Carlito, Alberto, Luz and Elsa.

Virginia is pre-deceased by her parents Teofilo and Tomasa Cabanting, her husband Sergio Sicat, and her siblings Josephine Cabanting Chiu, Teresita Cabanting Juan, Teofilo Cabanting Jr. and Remedios Cabanting.

Virginia found great joy in returning home to the Philippines, where she treasured spending time with family, reconnecting with lifelong friends, and creating cherished memories with the people she loved. She also enjoyed traveling with family and friends, always appreciating the simple happiness that came from being together.

Known for her kind and generous heart, she was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her. She was always willing to help others, whether through sharing what she had, donating clothing and personal items, or bringing gifts and necessities to family and friends during her visits to the Philippines. Giving to others brought her genuine joy.

Above all, she was a devoted and loving mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her family. She made countless sacrifices to ensure there was always food on the table and that her children were cared for.

Her warmth, compassion, resilience, and joyful spirit touched many lives and will never be forgotten. While our hearts are broken by her loss, we take comfort in the beautiful memories she leaves behind and the lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

The family will receive friends at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home at 8088 Yonge St, Thornhill on Wed May 20th (2 to 4 pm, and 6 to 8 pm), followed by a chapel mass service Thurs May 21st at 10 am at the funeral home. Flowers are welcomed.
