Wilbert passed away at age 78 at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto after a brief illness. Wilbert was born in Hong Kong as the sixth of eight children. He graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong before earning his MBA at the University of Minnesota. He immigrated to Canada in 1974 and later started his own business as a Certified Professional Accountant, which he ran for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Heather; daughter, Catherine (Neil); and sister-in-law Joan (Dexter). He is also survived by his sister Jeannie (Sui Sing – predeceased), brothers Franklin (Louisa – predeceased) and Lister (Linda), and various nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister Betty (Yuk Lun) and brothers Raymond (Sau Man – living), Clarence (Estella – living), and Larry.
The family expresses sincere thanks to the cardiac staff at Sunnybrook for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, at 11 a.m., followed by a service at 12 p.m. at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes Thornhill (8088 Yonge Street), with a reception to follow.
