Bill Potts was an outstanding advertising executive and human being.   He was intelligent, well-organized and possessed great communication skills and above all was pretty much unflappable.  He was a very good account man who could have easily glided into the cast of Mad Men without missing a beat.  Everyone who met Bill benefited from his friendship.   
Jeanette first met Bill when she joined Panasonic in 1973. Bill handled the account duties for Grant Tandy Advertising.   I had the honour when I joined the company several years later. Bill and Pat reached out to Jeanette, a relative newcomer to Canada who shared Pat's English background.  Later, when Jeanette and I were planning to get married there no hesitation - Bill was our only choice to be master of ceremonies. No one could have performed the duties with the same measure of skill, polish and aplomb.  Bill welcomed every guest, made them comfortable and hovered over the evening like a true professional.
When our daughter Ashley was born, we asked Bill and Pat to be godparents and we could not have made a better decision.  With Jeanette's parents in England, Bill and Pat became surrogate grandparents.  The bonds between our little family and Bill and Pat grew stronger as the years progressed.  
We saw them often when we moved back to the Toronto area, they were there when our son Nick was born and we shared many great dinners and brunches as well as birthdays and holidays.  Christmas Eve wasn't  complete without a visit from "uncle" Bill and "aunt" Pat, bearing gifts for the children and good cheer all around.   
We will always remember Bill and Pat for the unswerving friendship and great joy they brought into our lives and the lives of our children.  They were each one-half of a wonderful partnership… partners together once again. God Bless.

The writer first met Mr. Bill Potts in the early 70's. Now after personally spending almost 60 years in affiliation with the advertising and communication profession, the writer has had numerous occasions to meet good people in that field. Bill Potts was certainly one of the very best and most reliable account executives I encountered!! Our association was one of almost 12 years and the foregoing supportive opinion of Bill Potts and his valuable service remains unchanged today and has often been expressed to other colleagues. His many business attributes also spoke highly of Bill's personal character and personality. Reliability & Timeliness, Diligence & Thoroughness, plus Honesty & Sincerity....were all quite representative of Bill's commendable approach to both business and life. While our subsequent life paths took us in very different directions, Bill's overall character and good nature are still fondly recalled. Sincere condolences to Ian and the Potts family. Dyke G. Bill was a wonderful humanitarian who enjoyed life. He enjoyed all aspects of life and travel. He took a genuine interest in people; he cared about people and gave of himself freely. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the Family at this time.
