Born on June 20,1936 in Geary, Oklahoma to Chester Ray Richards and Rhoma Marie Richards, she was one of four children. As a child, the family relocated to Wichita, Kansas. It was in Wichita that she met Leroy Vickery as a teen at their church. Annetta and Leroy married on June 27, 1954. The following year they started their family, welcoming a daughter. They subsequently welcomed two more daughters before moving to Colorado in 1965. Annetta spent many years as a homemaker, raising her daughters, before eventually going to work part-time in the credit department of a department store and later working in the administrative offices of her church. She loved music and participated in choir in school, in community groups, and at her church, where she also regularly played the organ.
Annetta is survived by her daughters, Diane Bird, Linda Haag, and Christa Vickery, grandchildren Andrea Bird, Tyler Haag, Matthew Haag, Daniel Doran, and Michael Doran, great grandchildren, Ethan Haag and Savannah Bird, brother Marion (Joan) Richards, brother’s in-law Alvin Vickery, and Bill (Cindy) Vickery as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Leroy Vickery, father, Chester Ray Richards, mother Rhoma Marie (Day) Richards, brother Chester Ray (Elizabeth) Richards, Jr., sister Janice Irene Vickery, and brother in-law Donald (Shirley) Vickery.
A celebration of Annetta’s life will be held May 25, 2024 at 2:00PM at the Community of Christ Church, 9501 Lou Drive, Thornton, Colorado.
