Cynthia Ruth Atencio

Cynthia "Cindy" Ruth Atencio (Abeyta), age 67, of Denver, Colorado passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 in Westminster Colorado after a 5 year struggle rehabilitating from a stroke as well as many other health complications.

She was born Cynthia Ruth Abeyta August 27th, 1955 in Denver Colorado at St. Joseph Hospital to parents William S. Abeyta and Ethel Emilia Abeyta. As a single mother raising 2 kids she was a secostall mail carrier with the United states postal service where she met her husband Joseph Michel Atencio. Together in Westminster Colorado raising 3 young men. Beyond dedicated to family and friends and anyone she could help. She attended CU, DU as well as a medical major and taking classes at front range. Cynthia enjoyed reading, church services and spending time outdoors. She also enjoyed occasional trips to Blackhawk, Colorado. She spent some time in the Philippine islands as a young woman.

Her smile was infectious and had brought nothing but joy and love for everyone.

She is survived by Daniel Nicholas Castillo, William Joseph Castillo, Nicholas Vincent Atencio. Grandchildren Chase Robert Sutton and Catalina Marie Castillo.

A visitation for Cynthia will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229. A rosary will occur Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 9371 Wigham St,, Thornton, CO 80229. A committal service will occur Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229.
