Dorothy L. Weinberger, 96, of Denver passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, in Sterling, Colorado. She had resided at Devonshire Acres Senior Living since January 2021. Rosary will be held at Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant Street, Thornton at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 15. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 16th at Assumption Catholic Church, 2361 East 78th Avenue, Welby. After mass, the burial will be at Olinger-Highland Cemetery at 1 p.m.
Dorothy was born June 7, 1928, in Fairview Lyon, Minnesota to Albert and Stella (Streff) Goblirsch. She was the fifth of twelve siblings. She married Gerald Weinberger on May 8, 1954, in Denver, Colorado. They were married 33 years until his death in 1987. After raising her seven children, Dorothy worked at Ranum High School in nutrition services from 1975 until her retirement in 1995. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, cooking for her family and playing bridge with her friends for the last 70 years.
Dorothy was a proud long-time resident of Thornton for 60+ years. She was an avid Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos and Denver Nuggets fan. Spending time with her family brought her so much joy! She lived as a devout Catholic and her strong faith guided her throughout her life.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Weinberger, five brothers, and four sisters. She is survived by one son, Curt Weinberger (Deana) of Milliken, six daughters, Mary Beth Maes (Herb) of Westminster, Marciel Miller (John) of Thornton, Marilyn Driscoll (Ray) of Broken Bow, Nebraska, Martha Gareis (Jim) of Sterling, Colorado, Margo Gomez of Thornton, Maureen Weinberger of Thornton, sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, Lucille Clark of Centennial, Colorado and Mary Fox of St. John's, Michigan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
