Doug was born in Denver and raised in Keenesburg. He joined the Navy and was a decorated Vietnam Combat Veteran. He received his bachelor’s degree from CSU and his MBA from CU. His educational endeavors also include a semester at Harvard attending the Senior Executive Seminar. Doug began his career in the federal government in Denver at General Services Administration in Building’s Management. He then joined the Foreign Service and was stationed in Conakry, Guinea. He came back to the states and married his soulmate Sharon Eaton on February 18, 1988. His wife was working at the State Department and they decided to stay in DC. Doug went to work for GSA at National Capital Region becoming the Director of Real Estate. His numerous accomplishments included finding and equipping an alternate location for the 2000 employees displaced by the 911 attack on the Pentagon, and similarly organizing and overseeing the response to the anthrax crisis at the United States Capital. Doug also oversaw the design and buildout of the post- presidential office of President George Bush. After a long and distinguished career, Doug and Sharon retired to Denver where they had close friends and family. They spent a great deal of time with their grandchildren and continued to travel internationally. Doug made a lasting impression on everyone he knew, but no one more so than the young people he took under his wing to mentor and encourage including his niece, grandchildren, Collin, Kyle, Reid, Cara, Larissa and Molly. Doug will be deeply missed, and his absence will be forever felt.
There will be a reception to follow immediately at the family home.
