
Emma Maes went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2011 at the age of 89. Emma was born on April 1, 1921 in Chama, New Mexico to Miguel and Sylviana Maes. In 1941 she married Charles J. Maes, who worked for the Armour Meat Packing Company. They attended and served at First Spanish Assembly of God Church in Denver. They were married and devoted to each other for 39 years until Charles' death in 1980. She lovingly cared for her husband and children Marilyn and Kenneth until their deaths. Throughout her life Emma enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, and sewing. Her family enjoyed fresh tortillas daily which her daughters took turns making. Emma gave her time, finances, and energy so that her children would have a love of learning and music. Emma's siblings are Odie Maes who preceded her in death, Belle Martinez and Stella Cordova, of Denver and her brother Manuel Duran of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her surviving children: Elaine and her husband Eli Duran, of Denver; Eilleen and her husband Gale Cisneros of Indianapolis, Indiana; Steven and his wife Cecilia, of Denver; and Louis of Denver. Survivors also include 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
