Mrs. Maul is fondly remembered for her 30 year career as a dance instructor teaching hundreds of children tap and jazz in the Brighton and Commerce City area. Her extensive career was augmented by her lifelong service at the Henderson Community Church where she was an active member for her entire married life to her death. It is from this institution she received her lifetime achievement for service award.
Born on March 26th 1928 to Arthur and Katie (Leng) Anderson, Evelyn was afflicted with a deformation in her legs requiring her to wear braces during her early years. At that time the medical professionals suggested that she would never be able to walk normally and that her parents should prepare themselves for that misfortune. Evelyn’s mother refused to accept that prognosis and thus started her in dancing. It was from this beginning that Evelyn was driven toward her career.
On October 24th 1945 she married Albert L. Maul (1925-1998). They spent 54 years of marriage together until Albert’s death in 1998 and raised four sons. While their sons were in school, Evelyn and Albert hosted a yearly New Years Eve party so that the young people in the community would have a safe place to be on that night. Later in her married life she returned to school and graduated with her GED with honors.
She is survived by her sons Richard Maul of Brighton, Colorado, Robert Maul of Gillette, Wyoming, Ronald Maul of Gillette, Wyoming and Randolph Maul of Monument, Colorado. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Dunlap of Amarillo, Texas, Donna Kirk of Westminster, Colorado, and Edwin Anderson of Fort Madison, Iowa. She is survived by 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Throughout her lifetime she has been a service-to-others person. She was constantly dedicated to the wellbeing of those in need. This was her legacy and her passion.
For all of those who knew her and have survived her, this is how we remember her.
