H.C. “Chuck” Dodson, age 81, of Thornton, CO, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015. Born in Kansas City, MO, May 17, 1934 to Charles Dodson and Laura (Schriefer) Dodson. Chuck served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Holibird, MD in the late 50’s. Married Carol Kowalczyk in 1958 and fathered six children: Charles Michael, David William, John Lewis, James Chester, Carol Michelle (Johnson), and Scott Bruce. He was preceded in death by wife Carol and sons Charles and John. He has nine grandchildren. Chuck later married Sandra Maltese of Arvada, CO.
Chuck was employed in the insurance business by Allstate and later Western Investor’s Life in the 1960’s and 70’s and volunteered as a firefighter and fire officer for the Security (CO) Volunteer Fire Department and the Arvada (CO) Fire Department. Chuck was then hired by the Arvada Fire Protection District as a Fire Inspector/Investigator and Assistant Fire Marshal. He was later promoted to Operations Supervisor. In retirement, Chuck started his company, I-2 Fire Investigations. Chuck is a past member of the Colorado Governors Fire Safety Task Force, past president of the Colorado Fire Marshals Association, a successful lobbyist for Colorado firefighter pension laws, and was elected as Council Member At-Large for the City of Arvada.
Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15, 10:00 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Arvada, followed by a reception and fire apparatus procession to Fort Logan National Cemetery for a 2:00 PM final salute.
