On May 28th, 2026, Julia Clorinda Castillo, age 94, of Denver, Colorado, peacefully left this life, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength. She was a mother to all — someone who made everyone feel safe and loved, a woman who never met a stranger, and whose presence made every room warmer. Loving, selfless, stubborn, feisty, and wonderfully spicy, Julia lived her life with a fire that never faded and a heart that never stopped giving.
Born in 1931 in El Cerrito, New Mexico, Julia was the eldest sister of 12 siblings and cherished the deep bond she shared with each of them throughout her life. She built a life rooted in devotion, resilience, and unwavering faith. In 1946, she moved to Denver, where she later married the love of her life, Jose Castillo, and together they built 68 years of partnership, laughter, and a home filled with the unmistakable aroma of her incredible Mexican cooking.
Julia was proud of her work in social services and the many people she helped along the way. Her strength carried her through every chapter of her life, and her compassion made her a steady source of comfort for anyone who needed guidance or encouragement. She loved playing softball, telling stories of her youth, spending time with family, and celebrating the traditions that kept everyone connected. Her faith in Christ guided her, sustained her, and shaped the way she loved others.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jose, and her sons Eddie Castillo and Charlie Castillo. She leaves behind her children Michael Castillo, Christopher Castillo, and Rainbow Milo, along with eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, her extended family, and countless others who were touched by her generosity and spirit.
Those who knew Julia will forever feel her presence in the meals she cooked, the lessons she taught, the stubborn strength she modeled, and the love she poured into every day of her long, remarkable life. And in her spirit, we hold close the words she lived by: “C’est la vie.”
The family offers sincere thanks to San Marino and A Peaceful Journey, whose compassion and care were blessings during Julia’s transition home.
