Katherine Anne Brown

Katherine Anne Brown passed away peacefully at home, holding the hands of her loved ones on Saturday, January 4, 2025. Katherine was born in Greeley, Colorado on October 13, 1955. Her father was Kenneth Wayne Brown and her mother is Thelma Mae Brown. Kathy was home tutored for school in her younger years in Greeley, due to a heart condition. Later on, she continued her education and obtained her GED.

In 1972, she married Arthur Gutierrez. They owned a home in Evans, Colorado and both worked at Monfort’s of Colorado, as a meat cutter and waitress. On December 30, 1974, Kathy gave birth to a son, Billy Jack Gutierrez. In 1975, Kathy gave birth to a daughter, April Melody Gutierrez. Art and Kathy spent six months living in Bend, Oregon, where her brother Larry Brown and family lived. They relocated, both obtained employment at Coors Brewing Company, purchased a home and settled in Golden, CO. Kathy pursued her career in insurance claims. Three years later accepted a position as Manager for the McDonald’s restaurant chain. They enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing in the mountains with family. Kathy also fell in love with a black Pontiac Firebird Trans AM vehicle and enjoyed it for many years. They were lucky enough to win a trip to Disneyland from Stevinson Chevrolet for the children.

Kathy moved back to Greeley, with her two children, to be closer to family, and worked at Monfort’s of Colorado dispensing cattle feed/scheduling through their computer systems. She retired from this position to manage her home childcare business and helped raise her three grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her mother, Thelma Mae Brown; two sisters Sharon Faye Steel and Ruth Irene Walters, and one younger brother David Glen Brown (Paige); several nieces and nephews; and her son Billy Jack Gutierrez (Heather) of Youngstown, Ohio with one child, Brock Landon Gutierrez of Brighton, Colorado, and two stepchildren Ryan and Adam; and one granddaughter Jocelyn Gomez (Joshua) of Akron, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Wayne Brown; her brother Lawrence Wayne Brown; her daughter April Melody Gutierrez; and her grandson Kristian Petersen Gutierrez.
