Marion Montaño (née Mörgen) was born 1943 to Gertrude Mörgen in Meulzivitz Nazi Germany. She was not about to be forced to join the Communist Party at age 18, and instead escaped Communist East Germany, giving no quarter to anyone who stood in her way.
She became a young mother to Jens Teichmann (1962) in West Germany, and upon meeting an American GI in Ansbach, married Barney Montaño in 1969. They returned to Barney’s home state of Colorado where she thrived with her new country and family.
Known for her hospitality, her home was open to any stray Taekwon-Do visitors, or friends of her daughter stranded at the airport. Her mischievousness kept Barney on his toes until his death in 2015, where his ‘honey-do list’ was inherited by their adopted son Joshua Manning. She adored her two grandsons in Canada from daughter Rebecca: d’Artagnan (2012) has inherited her skill of squirrelling away money for a rainy day, and Léonidas (2009) is proud to inherit her beloved cat Rio.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.olingerhighland.com for the Montano family.
