Born on December 27, 1952, in Bellevue Washington to Julie and Jay Holcomb, Robert was the oldest of 5 children. The family lived in Tulsa, OK, Riverside, CA and Des Moines, Iowa. Robert grew up with a strong sense of family and a love for the outdoors that stayed with him throughout his life.
Robert dedicated over 40 years to the trucking industry, where he was known as a gifted and personable salesman. His employment at Wabash in Des Moines led to a transfer moving him and his family to Denver. His work ethic, integrity, and ability to connect with people left a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike.
While working in Iowa, Robert met the love of his life, Robin Tjaden, through his sister. They were married for 27 wonderful years, building a life together grounded in love, laughter, and shared adventures. Together they raised two children and later cherished the joy of becoming grandparents to two grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
A man of many passions, Robert loved fishing, camping, biking, and gardening. He found peace in nature and took every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. He was a loyal sports fan who rarely missed a Broncos, Rockies or Avalanche game.
Robert was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Thornton, CO. Robert also gave generously of his time, serving on the Boy Scout Committee for Troop 417 for 10 years, helping to mentor and guide young people in his community. He supported his children in all their activities, and he especially loved watching them both play soccer.
Robert’s warmth, humor, and generosity touched everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife Robin, their daughter, Shayla (Matt) Hill of Vass, NC, their son Ian Jay Holcomb of Northglenn, CO, and their grandkids Grayson Jay and Amaya Hill, a brother Richard Holcomb of Des Moines, a sister Sherie Lynn Smith of Guthrie, OK, and many extended family members and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Steven and David Holcomb. His legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion to his loved ones will live on in all who knew him.
Rest easy, Rob. You will forever remain in our hearts.
