Robert Louis Troch, of Westminster, CO, passed away May 29, 2022 in Thornton. He was 81 years old. Robert was born on August 3, 1940 in Syracuse, New York to Steven John and Irene Louise (Siguler) Troch. He grew up and attended Catholic school in Syracuse. Following graduation from high school, Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corp.
In 1962, Robert married Patricia Ann Gardner. They were blessed with four children, Robert, Jr, Renee, Margaret and Richard. In 1966, Robert started working for Mead Containers. After four years in Syracuse, he transferred to Edison, New Jersey. Robert had worked for Mead in Edison until 1972 when he transferred once more. This time Robert moved West to Denver, Colorado. Mead Containers was purchased by Union Camp in 1979. After their buyout by Union Camp, Robert continued working for Mead. However, in 1984, while maintaining his employment with Mead, Robert started R.L. Troch Maintenance. He performed light maintenance for several apartment complexes in the area. Robert had enough work with R.L. Maintenance, he was able to employ all of his children in some capacity. In 1992, Robert met and married Lilian; they were together for 14 years.
Union Camp was eventually taken over by Weyerhauser and Robert continued working for them until his retirement in 2005.
Robert had a very strong work ethic, was goal oriented and was a very driven individual. He would put his mind to something and go after it. Robert was an innovator. He would always say that you need to be able to add value to your position in any way you could. These were just some of the traits he would instill in his children. Though he would sometimes brag or even joke about it, as their dad, Robert knew he needed to set a good example. Managing money and investments was another skill Robert had. He taught his children the importance of the 401k’s, the value of a dollar and saving for a rainy day.
Robert enjoyed many things in his leisure time. He enjoyed playing golf, billiards and horseshoes, just to name a few. He even had horseshoe pits in his backyard and a pool table in his basement. Even with the horseshoe pits, he always worked to have one of the nicest lawns in the neighborhood. Robert enjoyed activities inside the house as well as outside. Robert loved food and enjoyed cooking. He passed these on to his children, as well. He knew his way around the kitchen and was a very good cook. His culinary expertise was something he maintained from early on in his life where he had various cooking jobs. When he finally chose to sit and relax, Robert loved watching the old monster movies, Star Trek and the Denver Broncos on television. A bit of a techy, Robert also loved gadgets, phones and the latest technology. Robert also loved antiques and was drawn to things that were unique and artsy. He would often go to flea markets and buy books for only a quarter thinking he was getting such a fantastic deal!
Robert was thought to be eccentric and was often misunderstood. This didn’t matter to him. Robert was going to live his life his own way, on his own terms, uncompromised…and he did just that.
Robert is survived by his four children: Robert Louis, Jr, Renee Louise, Margaret Ann and Richard Steven; Grandchildren, Michelle Lenore, Jamie Patricia, Richard Steven, II, Raymond Joseph and Robert James; Great Grandchildren, Blake Delgado, Gabriel Cadena, Ava, Aliliana, Nicholas, Eutimio, Ariella, Coralee, Emily, Kaley, Summer, Jordan and Madison. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Steven Troch and Michael Troch.
