Susan Cathline Gill

Susan Cathline Gill was born on June 5, 1954 in Denver, Colorado, to Alice and Elmer “Bud” Kauffman. She had one younger sibling, Nancy (Larry) Moore. Sue was married to Kenneth Gill. They met while attending college at UNC. They were married in Bud and Alice’s backyard on October 23, 1976. Ken shared that he looked to her as a saint, she was beautiful and did good things for others. Sue and Ken had two children. She was so proud of them and enjoyed the vacations and special moments like graduations, birthdays and weddings.

They shared that their mom was a pillar of strength, and loved them and showed them in so many ways. Her greatest love though was being a grandmother to Isla and Leta Gill. Reading with them was her favorite thing to do. She also cared for several other adopted grandchildren and impacted many young lives. Sue attended UNC for both her undergraduate degree and her Masters in Education. She later attended DU for her administrative license. Sue worked for Jefferson County Schools for 35 years. She began her career teaching, mostly in Kindergarten through second grade. She later left the classroom to work in Human Resources and also worked as a mentor to develop new teachers and instructional coaches. After retiring from Jeffco, she worked for the Colorado Department of Education in Teacher Effectiveness. Sue loved being with family, reading, gardening, and traveling. Her favorite vacations were to the beach so she could play in the waves. Sue survived cancer more than once and continued to fight as it returned up to the very end. She was surrounded by family when she peacefully passed at home.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Ken Gill; her children: Jared Gill and Sara (Eric) Quintero; her grandchildren: Isla and Leta Gill along with the other children that were special in her life. Susan also leaves a host of other family members and many friends. She will be deeply missed.
