Vickie Rae Blasi, was born on the kitchen table, in a log cabin in the woods, on August 27, 1949 in Carter, Wisconsin, to Homer Ward and Eva Bodoh. She was the first of three children, John Ward and Jodie Justus; she also had two half-sisters: Nancy Lynn Ward and Lisa Ward.
Vickie was the mother of three: Peter John Piazza, Toni Lori Piazza and Lawrence John Blasi, Jr., the grandmother of: Dominic, Frankie, Vinny, Marissa, Alana, and Ariana.
Her family and friends will miss, the way her face lights up when she’s jazzed about something, her beauty, her love for feeding everyone, her sense of humor and her love for dancing. Vickie loved music and as a youth, she played the clarinet.
Vickie attended Denver University and Front Range Community College. She was a Commercial Telephone Operator for Avaya for 25 years before she retired in 2005. At Avaya, Vickie received many awards; as Employee of the Month, she earned a cruise for outstanding performance. Her co-workers would describe Vickie as going beyond to troubleshoot complex phone problems better than anyone else does there, was excellent at multi-tasking.
Her closest friends were Kathy, Katie, Marilyn, Dorothy and Peggy. A memory of Vickie bowling with her unique ball delivery and stance. Her favorite poem was Desiderata. Spending time playing cards. Most of all Vickie loved spending time with family and friends.
She loved music, dancing, adventure, cooking, spending time with loved ones, animals and all babies. She was a proud mother and grandmother. She loved all of her friends and family and opened up her home to help people in need providing a safe haven.
She had a big heart for many. She did not like to waste anything. Vickie made use of everything, and kept everything she ever had.
Vickie believed in God, she passed away on her own terms. She did not want to say goodbye, and she did not want to trouble or worry anyone. No matter how sick she was, she would tell you she was pretty darn healthy, she had no pain and felt lucky in life.
