Vickie Ann Pace of Richmond went home to be with the Lord on June 18th, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Jerry Pace and her mother and father, Freddie and Ruth Schmitchel. We know that Dad is making Mom laugh right now as he shares one of the many stories of their life long adventures together. She is survived by her son, Dr. Bobby Pace, and her son-in-law Kurt Schaefer, her beloved sister-in-law Bea Osborne, her niece and nephew-in-law Kim and Rusty Hopkins, as well as her great niece Sophie and great nephew Derrick, her Aunt Shirley Norris and numerous cousins. Vickie was a proud graduate of Smithdeal-Massey Business College which prepared her for her 40 plus years at the Medical College of Virginia where she served as an administrative assistant working with a team of folks she dearly loved. Throughout her life Vickie remained a beacon of light, kindness, and joy. A devoted mother, there was no adventure with her son she wouldn't go on, from field trips in school, a Russian history class in college, or across the country and world as he grew older and traveled. She was always ready to be a part of the journey and walk side by side her friends and family in their special moments. In her final years she moved to Denver to be with Bobby and Kurt, making many new friends, helping prepare Sunday pasta dinners with her family, and enjoying time with her grand doggies. Her final years were filled with love, laughter, and a lot of smiles. Graveside services will be held at Dale Memorial Park on July 29th at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association in support of all of those impacted by this disease.
