Walter Lawrence Rieker was the oldest of five children born to Lawrence and Verna (Dreher) Rieker. He grew up on the family farm in Eustis, NE and graduated from Eustis High School in 1956. He served in the Navy for four years where he was a specialist in radio/communications operations achieving the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. He served aboard the Destroyer USS Brush.
In 1962 Walter moved to Commerce City, CO where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for various companies until he retired in 2009.
Walter is survived by his brothers, Dennis (Chris) of Painesville, OH; Danial (Diane) of Lincoln, NE; Donald (Marilyn) of Lakewood, CO; sister, Carole (Dennis) Bollmann of Walsenburg, CO; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
