Gary was born in Great Falls, Montana on Jan. 8, 1933 to Hans Harold Hanson and Mary Alice Dempsey Hanson. They moved to Portland in 1940. Gary graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1951, and later attended Oregon State University. Gary served in the U.S. Marine Corp at which time he was deployed to Korea.
Gary spent his entire career as a banker until his retirement from Wells Fargo Bank.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Marie Harreld Hanson, as well as two daughters, two granddaughters and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson.
A private Burial will be held at Willamette National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Central Catholic High School.
