James Francis Eberle

Jim was born In Mt. Angel, Oregon, to Valentine and Kathryn Eberle. After graduating from Mt. Angel Prep in 1963, he attended the University of Portland where he graduated with a business degree in 1967. Jim joined the Air Force soon after graduation. On May 18, 1968, Jim married Barbara Pennington. After leaving the service, Jim worked in the Credit Union industry for more than 37 years.

A man of integrity, Jim always tried to do the right thing. He was quick to laugh and loved to tease family and friends. An avid golfer, Jim scored a double eagle in 1994 and a hole in one in 1996. He was a big Blazers fan and attended the one and only championship game in 1977. Jim also loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Jim was an excellent husband, father, grandfather and friend. Family always came first in his life. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara; siblings Mary Beth Tobiassen, Abbot Peter Eberle OSB, Margaret O’Claire and Thomas Eberle MD; daughters Kara (Aaron) Baker, Lynn (Micheal) Flannigan and Ann (Patrick) Bennett; son in law Michael Zook; grandchildren Kathryn (Kyle) Esquerra, Elizabeth Zook, Liam Flannigan and Ava Bennett; great-grandchild Dax, and countless friends.

A funeral Mass will be held on January 6, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Lake Oswego at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Jim’s honor to your favorite charity.
