James “Jim” Nicolas, 83, passed away Nov. 29, 2025, in Tigard, OR. Born in Buffalo, NY, Jim made Oregon his home and found joy in the coast, his family, and cheering on a good football game. He was quick with a Dad Joke, loved bird watching, and could share dog stories for days. He also enjoyed trying to grow the perfect avocado from seed.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Sara Nicolas.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am Saturday, Dec. 20, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Tigard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bird Alliance of Oregon Wildlife Care Center, honoring Jim’s lifelong love of animals and nature.
