John Whily Peters passed away November 15th, 2015, in Portland after a brief illness. John was born in Missoula, Montana, to John and Leota Peters on November 30th, 1941. He graduated from Tigard High School in 1960 and served in the US Air Force from 1960–1964. Following a career in the telecommunications industry, John retired to Portland, living most recently at Laurelhurst Village. John is survived by his six children, LauraLee (Bill) Symes, Kathleen Peters, Lisa Peters, John (Sarah) Peters, and Katherine Miller; seven grandchildren, Nicole Carman, Zachary Carman, Brittany Hunt, Joshua Peters, James Peters, Justin Norman, and Jordan Peters; six great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog Lucy. John was pre-deceased by his parents, sister Darlene Peters, and daughter Shaunee Ray Peters.
Friends of John are invited to join the family for a funeral service Monday, December 7th, 3 pm, at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mount Scott Blvd., Portland OR 97086.
